Your class reads at three levels and you have one passage. Paste it into TachlisAI with the goal, get the same worksheet three ways with an answer key, and download it as a Word file to print and reuse with next week’s passage.

## Start with the passage you taught today

The class and the passage below are invented: a third grade studying the water cycle, with a few students reading below grade level and a few ready for more. Number the lines of your passage so the answer key can point to them.

**Illustrative example: One passage, one goal, three versions**

*The passage, with numbered lines*

> 1. Water on Earth is always moving in a loop called the water cycle.
>
> 2. The sun warms the water in oceans, lakes and puddles.
>
> 3. Some of the warm water turns into an invisible gas called water vapor. This change is called evaporation.
>
> 4. Water vapor rises into the sky, where the air is cooler.
>
> 5. In the cool air, the vapor turns back into tiny drops of water. This change is called condensation.
>
> 6. Millions of tiny drops gather together and form a cloud.
>
> 7. Clouds can also contain ice crystals. When drops or ice crystals grow heavy enough, they fall as rain or snow. This is called precipitation.
>
> 8. The water collects in oceans, lakes and rivers or soaks into the ground, and the cycle begins again.

*The request*

> This is the passage my third grade read today. Make one worksheet at three levels with one goal: students can name and explain evaporation, condensation and precipitation. Version A uses a word bank, Version B asks for short answers, and Version C asks students to explain in their own words. Give all three the same title, the same number of questions and the same look. Use only facts from the passage, and give the line number for each answer in the key.

## What each level asks

Here are the first two questions of each version and the key, as written for this example.

**Illustrative example: The opening questions at each level, and the key**

*Version A: with a word bank*

> 1. Match each word to its meaning. Evaporation, condensation, precipitation: (a) vapor turning back into tiny drops of water; (b) water falling as rain or snow; (c) water turning into an invisible gas.
>
> 2. When the sun warms a puddle, some of the water turns into water vapor. This change is called ________. (Word bank: evaporation, condensation, precipitation)

*Version B: short answers*

> 1. What happens to water vapor when it rises into cooler air? What is that change called?
>
> 2. Name two things that can fall from a cloud. What is that called?

*Version C: in their own words*

> 1. Number these from 1 to 4: Rain falls. The sun warms a lake. Tiny drops gather into a cloud. Water vapor rises into the sky.
>
> 2. Choose one step and explain it to a first grader. Use the word for that step.

*Answer key*

> A1: evaporation (c), line 3; condensation (a), line 5; precipitation (b), line 7.
>
> A2: evaporation, lines 2 and 3.
>
> B1: it turns back into tiny drops of water; condensation, lines 4 and 5.
>
> B2: rain and snow; precipitation, line 7.
>
> C1: 4, 1, 3, 2, from lines 2, 4, 6 and 7.
>
> C2: answers vary; the step and its word should match line 3, 5 or 7.

Keep the title and layout alike across all three versions. Every answer points to a line, so you can check the key against your passage.

## Print it, then reuse it next week

Ask for the set as a file: “Put all three versions and the key in one Word document, each on its own page.” Open it, change anything you like and print. Creating files needs a TachlisAI account.

Next week, bring the new passage to the same chat with “Same three levels, same format.” The goal, the formats and the layout are already in the conversation, and **Search chats** finds it again if it has slipped down your list.

In **Settings > Personalization**, the About you question “What do you spend your time on?” can hold “Third-grade teacher, general studies.” With **Use my profile in chats** on, new chats can use it too.

The same request works for limudei kodesh. Paste the pesukim or the mishnah with your own explanation, or a vocabulary list you made, and add “Use only what I pasted.” Number the lines, and the key can point to them the same way.

Printable files need an account. Once you have one, paste tomorrow’s passage with the grade and the goal and ask for three levels. [Sign up and build the set](https://tachlisai.com/signup)
